Jane Austen’s novels are among the most famous in the world. Though they were published in the early 19th century, readers still flock to classics like Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility because the themes of love, social class, and family are timeless. It is no surprise, then, that her novels have been adapted into countless television shows and movies. Some adaptations are faithful portraits of the originals, like the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Other adaptations give her novels a modern twist, like Clueless (an adaptation of Emma) or the Bollywood musical Bride and Prejudice.
